One thing you need to be careful of is to know which foods are not safe for your baby until they are much older. For instance, honey is not recommended for children before the age of 2.

Is the best organic baby food in the supermarket? Well, some moms think it’s cheaper and more fun to try making organic baby food yourself. All of these recipes came from "Baby's First Helpings" by Chris Casson Madden.

Baby’s First Egg

This is a good way to introduce eggs to your baby (remember to check with yur baby's doctor first)! Eggs contain all 22 of the amino acids-the building blocks of protein-that we need for new tissues, clotting of blood, and formation of antibodies.

    Ingredients

    Cold water

    Mother's milk or formula

Organic Egg (free of antibiotics, hormones)

Place egg in a small saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil and simmer very gently for 15 minutes. Remove and immediately fill pan with running cold water. Let sit in cold water until shell is cool. Crack open, discard the white and mash the yellow yolk with a fork and add a few drops breast milk or formula. Go easy (small amounts of egg for baby) at first to see if any allergies develop.

Make Your Own Baby Foods

It's easy to make organic baby food recipes when you use common sense and a little imagination. Just take your organic whole food and make it soft for baby. There are gadgets that are designed to do this for you. As your child develops the ability to chew, you won't need to soften it up as much. Avoid preservatives, of course. And don't be afraid to try new things!
