Current health news in the U.S. is pretty grim when you realize how many dangerous ingredients there are in our foods these days. Here are 10 that could be affecting how you feel today.
Hormones, steroids and antibiotics found in animal products – You could be getting these in your food even if you’re a vegetarian! If the vegetables you’re eating are grown in soil that’s been treated with manure from animals that have been fed antibiotics.
Toxins and pollutants from contaminated soil and water – these can stay in our soil, even if it’s been banned for years (DDT is one example)
Pesticides, fertilizers and fumigants – Unnatural compounds sprayed on our foods to kill pests. Is this something you want to be eating?
MSG (Monosodium Glutamate) – chemical added to stimulate our tastebuds. It can be hidden in our foods if it’s mixed with another chemical before being added to our food. Never been tested to see if it’s safe to eat.
Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils – Food makers add hydrogen to vegetable oil to make the foods last longer on the shelf. Unfortunately, there’s a by-product called Trans Fat created, which increases LDL (bad) cholesterol and decreases HDL (good) cholesterol.

GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) are inserted into soybeans, corn, canola and cotton.
High fructose Corn Syrup – Created in the 1070's to be cheaper than sugar. This “food” is genetically modified; no one knows what the effect is on human beings when they eat this stuff other than the fact that it will make you fat.
Artificial colors and flavorings – used to replace colors lost when foods are processed.
Artificial sweeteners – prominent ingredient in a lot of diet foods and drinks. It’s actually made up of 3 different chemicals and it’s still up for debate whether this is a safe ingredient.
Benzoate Preservatives - Phenolic compounds added to food used to preserve fats and prevent them from going rancid. These produce low levels of hormones which can wreak havoc on your body. The Material Date Safety Sheet says it can be “harmful if swallowed” at certain levels.
The current health news about the ingredients is shocking and many people don't even know about it. One thing you can do is eat more organically grown fruits and vegetables. And minimize the convenience foods you eat.
